Sub-Department of Geological Mapping and Natural Hazards

Under the authority of a Sub-Director, Sub-Department of Geological Mapping and Natural Hazards is in charge of:
 
- Monitoring the implementation of projects achieving national geological mapping, in conjunction with governments and specialized agencies;
- Participation in the studies of natural hazards of geological origin;
- Participation in the management of natural disasters of geological origin;
- Monitoring survey maps of natural hazards of geological origin, in conjunction with governments and specialized agencies;
- The development and updating 'the national map of natural hazards of geological origin;
- The issue of notice and due notice to the geological construction of works and site development;
-The definition and implementation of strategies and actions for the prevention of natural hazards, in conjunction with the authorities concerned;
-Surveys, establishment and publication of geological, hydrogeological and geothermal maps, in conjunction with governments and agencies concerned;
- Surveys, establishment and publication of mining indices and thematic maps, in conjunction with governments and agencies concerned;

It includes:
- The Geological Mapping Service;
- Natural Hazards Services.

The Geological Mapping Service

Under the authority of a Service Head, the Geological Mapping Service is in charge of:

- Surveys, establishment and publication of geological, hydrogeological and geothermal maps;
- Surveys, establishment and publication of maps, thematic and mineral occurrences;
- Monitoring the implementation of projects achieving national geological mapping;
- Identification of areas with natural hazards of geological origin and the development of maps of areas at risk activities.

It includes in addition to the Service Head, two (02) Studies Engineers.

Risk Service

Under the authority of a Head of Department, the Department of Risk is responsible for:

- The implementation of strategies and actions for the prevention of natural hazards of geological origin;
- The preparation and monitoring of the studies of natural hazards of geological origin;
- The organization of the monitoring survey maps of natural hazards of geological origin;
- The update of the national risk map;
- The issue of notice and due notice to the geological construction of works and site development.

 It includes in addition to the Service Head, two (02) Studies Engineers.
